Eight Edens
"Hasht-Behesht"

The 13 th of October 1840. The pleasant weather and the mild heat of the oriental autuman sun warms my soel. And kindles a burning desire in me to draw the most beautiful edifice in the east, known as the Eight Edens,

"Hasht-Behesht". A legendary edifice, "Hasht-Behesht", fascinated many travelers before me, like Chardin. The subject of my drawing today is the "Hasht-Behesht"edifice which is surrounded like a jewel by the famous "Nightingale Garden" which is full of trees of all types. Together, we'll go on an excursion to one of the most exquisite examples of the architecture of the Safavid period.
