God had destined the
Armenians to be the first believers of Christianity
in Asia, which happened along the Silk Road, thanks
to saint Gregory the Illuminator, who was the first
bishop at the down of the fourth century A.D.,
contemporary with Tirades the third. From the
Armenians point of view, the apostle St. Thaddeus
Jude was the first person to speed Christianity in
the region, hence there exists a small monastery
known to be place where this saint was murdered.
Since several centuries ago, the name of Jesus has
been synonymous with the church built by the order
of rulers for worshipping the Christian God.
However, along the silk road the church meant a
small place of worship built to glorify the same
God, not built through the commission of rulers but
by the love for Christ; Shepherds would build these
churches in the heart of mountains as a place of
worship and sanctuary for shepherds and people and
thus was the monastery of Saint Thasseus
Constructed. We begin our journey by looking for
signs and traces of Christ on the silk road, during
three different periods, each risen and flourished
within an identical culture, present on the vast
land named Iran.
