On the roof of Asia
 ( Naghsh-e-Jahan )

On the roof of Asia,I saw birds who like me, were strangers in this land coming from far away.I'm a stranger too,
a foreigner, feeling lost in the blue dream of the journey to Isfahan.

The "Naghshe-Jehan" Square which is the centre and the heart of Isfahan, is the main subject of my sketches.

The date of its construction goes back to 1600 AD after which the Imam Mosque, the "Sheikh-lotfollah Mosques, the "Gheisariyeh" Bazaar, and the "Ali-Ghaapu" Palace were erected.

During the reign of Shah Abbas the Great, the square hosted polo games. At present, it is a place of business and trade,
of group-games and recreation in the afternoons. it is a gathering place for people from all wals of life.
